Medical Camp in Mityana (delayed post due to WiFi issues)


Jan. 7, 2019:

We had our medical camp in Mityana.  It was an amazing day. It was so touching listening to the children, from Yvonne’s reading group, sing and welcome us and seeing how much work they have put into showing us their appreciation. We loved seeing all the children. They were so grateful and happy to see and interact with us. We had over 600 people that registered and we saw around 400 people. We saw people with many different diseases. We also gave out many Red Elephant packs, Blue Lion packs and glasses. One woman was carried in by her granddaughter to see us. She had had a stroke the year before and was in a lot of pain. It was very touching to see how her family had been taking care of her.  For many of these people this was their first time seeing a provider in many years, if ever. We were able to see the patients and dispense medications for them.  Many of their stories made us sad but we are so grateful that we had the opportunity to help, even if it was only for a short time.

We began our day at 6:00am with a bus ride to our safari destination of Murchison Falls. Along the way, we were able to sight see and also ...
