Jan. 7, 2019:
We had our medical camp in Mityana. It was an amazing day. It was so touching
listening to the children, from Yvonne’s reading group, sing and welcome us and
seeing how much work they have put into showing us their appreciation. We loved
seeing all the children. They were so grateful and happy to see and interact
with us. We had over 600 people that registered and we saw around 400 people.
We saw people with many different diseases. We also gave out many Red Elephant
packs, Blue Lion packs and glasses. One woman was carried in by her
granddaughter to see us. She had had a stroke the year before and was in a lot
of pain. It was very touching to see how her family had been taking care of
her. For many of these people this was
their first time seeing a provider in many years, if ever. We were able to see
the patients and dispense medications for them.
Many of their stories made us sad but we are so grateful that we had the
opportunity to help, even if it was only for a short time.
